I have had the chance to sail out of most of the world's great port cities. New York ranks not only close to the top of both the great ports and the great cities of the world. This time lapse video shows all the bustle and energy that typically swirls around the island of Manhattan.

For one in seven American families, New York is a place of arrival- the arrival into a country and the birth of a dream. For me however it is a launching pad of adventure. The experience of sailing out of the Hudson River and under the Verrazano Narrows bridge is one of the great scenic city sails.
